What an ISOBUS ECU is

The ECU, or electronic control unit, sits on the implement and commands its functions: valves, pressure, sections, cylinders, belts. Under the ISOBUS standard, it talks to the on-board computer in the cab over the same protocol, even across different brands.

What ISOBUS is

ISOBUS is the communication standard between tractor, implement and on-board computer, defined by the ISO 11783 standard. With it, a single on-board computer controls implements from different manufacturers, and the implement's operating screen appears on the computer in the cab.

What the ECU is for

The on-board computer plans and displays; the ECU carries it out. It reads the implement's sensors and drives valves, cylinders and motors to hold what was programmed: the rate, the pressure, the open sections, the boom height.

Without the ECU, the on-board computer only guides the machine. With it, it controls the input application too.

Which on-board computers they work with

  • With on-board computers that support the ISOBUS protocol, such as the agroNave 7, 12 and 12 UltraWide.
  • The isoView has built-in spraying and does not need an external ECU to spray.
  • The isoBox Hydraulic is a complementary module to the isoBox Sprayer, for those who also want boom control.
